Garage Door Off-Track Repair in Austin

The door is hanging crooked, one or more rollers are out of the rail, and the whole thing is stuck a foot or two off the floor. Maybe you bumped it with the car, maybe a cable let go. Either way, an off-track door is heavy and unstable, and it can fall. Leave it where it is and don’t run the opener. We put doors back on track and fix whatever knocked them off in one visit.

Upfront quote before we start. $79 service call, waived with repair.

What we do

  • Stabilize the door so it can’t drop while we work
  • Put the rollers back in the track and replace any that are bent, cracked, or worn
  • Straighten or replace bent track sections and tighten the track brackets
  • Find and fix the cause: a frayed cable, a broken spring, or a failed hinge
  • Rebalance the door and test the opener’s safety reverse

Why it happened

Doors leave the track for a few reasons: a car bump, a broken cable or spring that lets one side drop, worn rollers that no longer hold the rail, or track brackets that have worked loose from the wall. Older Austin homes with original hardware are the most common call, but a new door with a loose bracket can come off just as easily.

Questions about off-track repair

Can I push the door back onto the track myself?

No. The door is heavy, the springs are still loaded, and a panel that’s already crooked can fold or fall when you force it. Even if you get the rollers back in, whatever knocked it out, a bent track, a worn roller, or a frayed cable, is still there. Leave it alone, don’t run the opener, and call us.

Will the door need to be replaced?

Usually not. Most off-track doors need the rollers reseated, a track section straightened or replaced, and the cause fixed. A panel that’s creased or a top section that’s folded may need replacing, and we can often replace a single panel rather than the whole door. We tell you at the door before any work starts.

My car bumped the door. Is it still safe to use?

Not until it’s been checked. A bump that looks minor can bend the track just enough for a roller to pop out on the next cycle, usually halfway up. Have us look at it before you run the opener again. If the door is already crooked or jammed, leave it where it is.
